THE MALDIVES - from rustic simplicity to luxurious pampering

Arguably one of the most famous archipelagos in the world, The Maldives are renowned for their striking natural beauty and abundance of sealife – a delicate, protected eco-system of just over 1,100 tiny coral islands, their heavenly beaches with the softest white sand leading you gently into the clearest waters of the Indian Ocean. A natural sprinkling of lush tropical palms and the varying greens of the vegetation bring a vibrant contrast of colour. Peace, privacy and relaxation and a true sense of being part of one of the most breathtaking beautiful corners of the world – a Maldivian experience will remain with you forever.

The Maldives has long been regarded as a honeymoon or couples destination but the incredible resorts that are now available are also perfect for families as they feature many child and family oriented activities.  The Maldives is also a memorable holiday experience for a group of family and friends, perhaps celebrating a special occasion where you can enjoy these tiny, treasured islands, exceptional natural beauty and the remarkably warm welcome offered by the delightful Maldivian people.

The Maldives is a fascinating collection of 26 ring-like atolls dispersed across the equator in the Indian Ocean. Of the 1,190 tiny coral islands formed around the atols, just 200 are inhabited and around 90 have been developed for tourism.

The main island of Male is easily reached from the UK either by direct flight on British Airways from London or via the Middle East on airlines such as Emirates and Qatar. From Male, most resorts are reached either by speedboat, seaplane or a combination of both.
